Sibs Sew

About the Event

**3 Sessions - March 6, 13 & 20 from 10am - 11am PST (1pm - 2pm EST)**

Are you the sibling of someone with special needs? Have you been looking for an opportunity to share your life experiences while also sharing your love of sewing? Look no further! Hosted by teacher Samarra Khaja, a proud sewing sis to a brother with Down Syndrome, you'll get the opportunity to connect with other sibs, because there’s no substitute for connecting with others who understand what it means to grow up with someone with disabilities and how that reality shapes your life! While this class is meant to be supportive, it is not therapy. If you’d like to connect with other sibs to swap or hear stories, then this is a class for you!

Perfect for the beginner sewist who has a sewing machine and one or two projects under their belt, we’ll be making cute stuffed toys. By the end of the class you’ll have one to keep and one to give away. If you have a specific place or recipient in mind for your stuffed toy, we welcome that choice! Otherwise we will be donating all our stuffed toys to the children at https://setonchildrens.org. In these days of heightened pandemic isolation, we hope that offering this collaborative class opportunity will help foster a greater sense of shared community in tandem with direct purpose through the art of making. Please join us!
