About the Event

Learn how to use a sewing machine and make a great project at the same time! These zipper pouches are so useful - use them as pencil cases, jewelry or make-up bags, or purse organizers. They also make great gifts!

In this class, we will cover all the basics, such as:

- Using a sewing machine

- How to cut with a rotary cutter and ruler

- How to put in a lining

- How to sew a zipper

Supplies: All supplies are included to make your zipper pouch.

Skill level: ✂️

You've seen a sewing machine before, but you've never played with one, or if you have given it a try, you'd really love a little extra help to make sure you're doing it correctly.

* If you are bringing your own sewing machine to work on, you will need to understand how to use it. We will do our best to point out features of your machine, but we will not have time in this class to show you everything you might need to know or to troubleshoot problems. You are welcome to reserve one of our classroom machines at no additional cost, or we recommend that you take a Love Your Sewing Machine class first if you’re unfamiliar with your own machine.

About the Instructor:

Chelsea Hard made her first quilt perched on the edge of the couch with her sewing machine on the coffee table. Now practicing better ergonomics, she is an avid quilt maker and enjoys all aspects of sewing by both hand and machine.  When not purchasing craft supplies she’ll only use once or actively avoiding organizing her studio, she is the President of the South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild and an award winning jam maker. Chelsea currently resides in the East Bay with her two sewing machines.
