Fine Leatherworking: Finishing Leather Edges Workshop

Introducing the Finishing Leather Edges Workshop, a leather-working intensive for aspiring craftspeople that want to create a bespoke leather project at with luxury quality construction.

Dates: This is a THREE-day, all-day workshop, taking place from Wednesday June 6th to Friday June 8th from 9am - 5pm.

In this workshop, you will learn hands-on how to master the intricate detailed work of finishing edges, including burnishing, painting and creasing, so you can build more refined and higher quality leather goods.

The Finishing Edges Workshop course includes:

• TWENTY-FOUR hours of in-person detailed instruction over three days
• A five-part tutorial showing the processes used to finish edges on luxury leather goods
• Techniques to tackle different kinds of leather, including thin vs. thick leather and vegetable tan vs. chrome tan leather
• Specific practice activities to help you refine your edges
• Tutorials on how to finish different types of edges including burnishing and painted and creased leather edges.
• All the required materials and a chance to try out the tools from our store
• Two bespoke edge projects to help master your new techniques. Choose from a watch strap, pet collar, bracelet as your first project
• Create a fully lined-belt as your second project

You’ll also use the same tools and materials as the best designers and makers today to create better projects than you ever have before. Learn tips and tricks needed to use those tools and materials effectively, allowing you to unlock the secrets of creating finely crafted leather edges. Each day we’ll apply the techniques you learn to a project that you can take home with you.

About the Instructor:

Sean Aquino has been making leather goods for seven years. He runs the blog and website FineLeatherworking.com, which has been the go-to resource for advanced tools, materials and luxury leather craft inspiration since 2012.

*Each workshop day ends at 5pm, but Sean will help ensure that you can master these techniques by giving you extra time each day. If you are struggling but have the endurance to keep going, he will stay and coach you, 1:1 if necessary, until you feel confident. During one past session, his students did 9 hours on the first day and 10 hours on the second day. It was marathon, but they had some amazing work to show for it.
