Sewing with Gertie: Two Day Dress-making Workshop

**This is a two day class. When you register for the first day, you will automatically be registered for the second day.**

We're so excited to have the fabulous, Gretchen Hirsch from Gertie's Blog for Better Sewing with us for an exclusive, 2 Day Dress-Making Workshop on Thursday, May 10 & Friday, May 11! You can see more pictures of dresses you can make here.

Using Gertie’s Ultimate Dress Book, students will learn to fit basic bodice pattern and walk away with your own custom variation of a sleeveless dress. There will be a strong focus on fit construction, based on Gertie’s tested techniques for sewing and pressing darts, creating a perfectly neat all-in-one facing, and much more. Your finished dress will come together using a choice of basic, jewel neckline, v-neck, or elegant narrow shoulder. Students can choose between one of three skirts (a-line, three-quarter circle, or gathered) to make the dress your own. Owning a copy of Gertie’s Ultimate Dress Book is essential for attending this class.

Gain confidence in taking measurements, fitting, lapped zippers, seam finishes, and more!

What’s included:

- Personalized sewing and fitting instruction

- Sewing demos on a variety of sewing topics, with an emphasis on fitting and dress construction

- The use of machines and basic sewing/pressing equipment

- Lunch, coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided both days

- Students will be able to stay and sew in the studio until 8pm each night with the help of Hello Stitch Staff.

Skill level: Advanced Beginner (201+). This class is not suited to absolute beginners. It is for people who are confident with using their sewing machine, reading patterns, and who have completed several garments before, including at least one dress. She is the creator of Gertie’s New Blog for Better Sewing, one of the web’s most popular sewing blogs. She has a pattern line with Butterick and a fabric line with Fabric Traditions, both sold at Jo-Ann stores throughout the United States and Australia. She teaches in-person workshops throughout the United States, as well as on television (PBS’s It’s Sew Easy) and the web (Craftsy.com and Creativebug.com).
