Sew Your Own Leggings

Ever wanted to try sewing with knit fabric? Ever wanted a pair of leggings in a color other than black or grey? Join us in discovering the versatility of knits by sewing your own leggings! In this class you'll learn techniques for working with knits and how to pick the right fabric for your project. We will be using a pattern by Jalie, an indie pattern company with a strong record in sportswear. Once you've made one pair, you'll want to make lots and lots more!

This class will cover:

• How to choose the right fabric for your project
• Sewing with knits on a standard domestic sewing machine
• How to choose the right fabric for your project

Skill level: ✂️✂️✂️

You've been sewing for awhile and you have a pretty good handle on the basics. You're looking to delve into more advanced techniques like proper fitting or working with stretchy fabrics.

Supplies: You will need to purchase the pattern and fabric before class. More details in the supply list you'll receive upon registration.

About the instructor: 

Valerie Gibbins is a native of Oakland and a lifelong sewist. She recently moved back to the Bay Area after attending graduate school in Philadelphia and working as a Textile Designer in North Carolina. Her obsession with fabric and passion for creating with her hands has provided her with knowledge in multiple areas of design: apparel, textiles, and accessories. In addition to her design knowledge, Valerie brings her teaching experience to Hello Stitch, where she hopes to encourage confidence in everyone's creative abilities. 

Cancellation Policy:

Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend. Age Policy:

Youth age 14 and up may register for adult classes. In order to participate in class, all minors will need a signed parental consent form. If you will not be dropping your student off at the first session of class, please contact us and we will email you a form to fill out and send with your child.
