Sew the Archer Button Up Shirt Workshop with Lauren Taylor of Lladybird

**This is a three day class. When you register, you will automatically be registered for the entire 3 day workshop.**

Learn how to sew a classic, button-up shirt with rock-star sewing instructor, Lauren Taylor of Lladybird! Students will learn how to make button-up shirts using the Archer pattern from Grainline Studio - a classic design with all the necessary features (button placket, collar stand, yoke, and sleeve placket), available in sizes 0-18 (please note that students can sub for the Cashmerette Harrison shirt if they do not fit in the Archer size range). Men can sew the Fairfield from Thread Theory.

Dates:

Fitting + Cutting Half Day: Friday, March 15, 2pm - 6pm

Instruction: Saturday & Sunday, March 16 & 17, 10am - 5pm

*You will be able to stay and keep working at the studio until 8pm each night with the help of Hello Stitch staff.

Lauren will go over everything you need to know to make a professional looking shirt:

• choosing the correct size
• tips for a perfect collar + stand
• how to make sleeve cuffs and plackets
• get the best button placement for each individual body (no more bust gape!)

We will kick off the weekend with a half day to choose your size, cut and mark your fabric. Construction will begin on Saturday and go all through the weekend. Please note that while this is not a fitting class, Lauren will cover basic flat pattern alterations and minor fitting adjustments as needed.

The cost for the class will be $575, which includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday as well as snacks, coffee and tea.

​​​​​​​As Lauren will be focusing more on sewing techniques than fit adjustments, we will be holding an Adjust the Bust Pattern Fitting class on Thursday, March 14th, from 10am - 4pm, taught by Beth Galvin. This is a great opportunity for those that need a little more fit help, especially in the bust and shoulder area! During class, Beth will demonstrate different ways to "tissue fit" patterns to adjust for different body types and cover a variety of solutions for problem areas. Tissue fitting uses the pattern paper itself along with your body measurements to fix pattern problems before you cut the pattern out of fabric. For the optional, 2 hour Fit Lab part of the class, bring your own pattern to learn how to tissue fit a pattern with Beth. About the Instructor:

Lauren Taylor is a sewing enthusiast and rad sewing instructor based in Nashville, Tennessee. 100% self-taught, Lauren has been sewing for most of her life and makes pretty much all of her clothing at this point. In addition to teaching fun sewing classes and workshops, Lauren also works professionally in wardrobe + alterations, as well as in sewing production for a local clothing designer.
