About the Event
Is getting ready for the holidays stressing you out? Join us for a quick pick-me-up by sewing a Scrappy Improv Quilted Potholder! This potholder is a beautiful and functional addition to anyone's kitchen, and it makes a great gift!
This class will cover:
- An improvisational quilt-as-you go technique
- How to smoothly apply bias tape and work with curved edges
Skill level: ✂️✂️✂️
You've been sewing for a while and you have a pretty good handle on the basics. You're looking to delve into more advanced techniques, like working with bias tape and sewing curves.
Supplies: All materials for one potholder are included, however if you have a specific style or colorway in mind, please bring your own fabric scraps and thread.
About the instructor:
Valerie Gibbins is a native of Oakland and a lifelong sewist. She recently moved back to the Bay Area after attending graduate school in Philadelphia and working as a Textile Designer in North Carolina. Her obsession with fabric and passion for creating with her hands has provided her with knowledge in multiple areas of design: apparel, textiles, and accessories. In addition to her design knowledge, Valerie brings her teaching experience to Hello Stitch, where she hopes to encourage confidence in everyone's creative abilities.
