About the Event
Demystify the pattern envelope with instructor, Beth Galvin! In this class, we will cover:
-Reading the pattern, decoding the info on the pattern envelope
-Measuring yourself and choosing pattern size
-Explanation of symbols and information printed on the pattern pieces
-Choosing the right fabric for a pattern
-Then how to cut out a pattern, lay out the fabric, pin the pattern pieces, cut out and mark your fabric
Beth will also cover what to look for in a a good sewing pattern. This is the perfect class for someone just getting into sewing and is a good refresher for those who have always wondered what all that information on a pattern is for!
Skill level: Sewing 101 (Beginner)
Supplies: All supplies are included with this class. This is a lecture and demonstration class only, we will not be sewing or cutting student patterns. You are welcome to bring patterns and fabric with you to class and Beth can answer questions about them if there is enough time.
About the instructor:
Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier!
