About the Event

**This is a 2 session workshop**

Saturday & Sunday, December 5 & 6 from 10am - 1pm

Join Julia McLeod for this two-morning workshop creating a beautiful silk and cotton table runner. You'll learn how to foundation piece a flock of silky Flying Geese using a printed fabric foundation. We'll then incorporate that motif into a table runner for your home, or to give as a holiday gift.

If you choose to purchase a class kit, it will include everything you need; a selection of silk fabrics, cotton fabric for the top and back, batting and printed foundation strips.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • Foundation Piecing
  • How to work with silk fabric
  • Machine quilting

This workshop will be recorded and will be made available to class participants for 2 weeks following the lesson.

You have a few projects under your belt. You aready know how to thread and use a sewing machine and you're ready to learn more advanced basics.

Supplies: If you would like to work with supplies you already have on hand, you can find the supply list below. A complete class kit is also available for purchase. 

  • For the Flying Geese - assorted fabric scraps that are at least 2" x 4"
  • 3/4 yd background fabric
  • 1/2 yd backing fabric
  • 1/2 yd batting
  • 1/2 yd muslin
  • Matching thread (Jullia also used Coats & Clark gold metallic thread as a final quilting touch)

To purchase the class kit, please select the appropriate option when registering. The kit will be shipped to you anywhere in the US.* In order to get your kit in time, please register early! You can also pick up your kit from Hello Stitch during our curbside pickup hours (Tues & Thurs, 11am - 3pm). Kits are usually shipped (or available for curbside pickup) one to two weeks before class. We'll send you a notice as soon as they are shipped or ready for pickup!

About the instructor: 

Julia McLeod has been sewing and quilting for decades but three years ago narrowed her focus to making quilts from silks and rescued materials.  Neckties, clothing and furnishing samples have all found their way into her work. Julia lectures and teaches about ways quilters can incorporate silk into their quilts.

Cancellation Policy:

Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend. Supply kit fee of $25 and the shipping fee are non-refundable.
