Make a Kawandi Quilt with Sujata Shah
About the Event
Learn how to make your own, one of a kind Kawandi quit with Sujata Shah. Kawandi is a utilitarian quilt made with found and collected scraps by African Diaspora of India. With no end result in mind, you will learn how to be spontaneous and personalize this simple patchwork quilt by using colors and fabric of your life.
Supplies
- Neutral color thread for piecing
- Fabric scissors
- Embroidery Needles (you will need a sharp needle with a large eye)
- Perle cotton thread for hand stitching
- One 18" x 22" piece of lightweight fabric for backing (fat quarters are perfect)
- 18” X 22” square batting
- Cut or torn strips of bright and lightweight, quilting fabrics.
