About the Event

Jeans Techniques with Beth Galvin

June 6 - June 27 (4 Sessions)

Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8pm (PDT)

Learn to make a your own jeans! Skinny jeans, mom jeans, high waisted jeans, hip huggers, wide leg jeans - whatever your jam, they all take the same techniques.

In this class, garment maker extraordinaire, Beth Galvin, will teach you everything you need to know to be able to make jeans. Rather than focus on only one pattern, she will share the tips and tricks needed to make just about any jeans pattern.

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Choose the correct size
  • Cut and mark your fabric
  • Baste to check fit
  • Sew front and patch pockets
  • Sew a fly front
  • Topstitching tips
  • Proper seam finishes for jeans
  • Apply the waistband and belt loops

There are lots of great patterns out there for both women and men. Don't worry, Beth will make some pattern recommendations and cover pattern and fabric selection in the first class to help you choose your favorite. Because this class focuses on techniques rather than being a sew-along following a specific pattern, you will learn all the skills regardless of what pattern you select!

Each week Beth will walk you through new topics and skills needed to make amazing jeans, sharing her expertise and answering all of your questions. One of the great things about this online class is that you can choose whether you want to sew along that week's techniques, or if you just want to watch class and sew when it's convenient for you. You have video available to refresh your memory when you want to tackle that part of the project.

Skill level: ✂️✂️

You have a few projects under your belt. You aready know how to thread and use a sewing machine and you're ready to learn more advanced basics. You should have made at least one or two garments before taking this class.

You'll receive a supply list, including a great list of patterns, when you register for class.
