Looking to build your skills and make new sewing friends? Join the Hello Stitch Garment Sewing Club! It's always more fun to sew together. This online class is part formal class instruction from our expert garment instructor, Beth Galvin, and part sewing social time sprinkled with helpful hints, tips, and (virtual) helping hands.
For the month of October, join Beth and your fellow club members for Adventures in Shirt Making! A shirt is the sum of its parts, and in this month's sessions, you will learn all about shirt construction. We will cover details such as collar, collar stand, placket, cuffs, button band and more. These are skills you can use on any shirt pattern!
The Garment Sew Club meets each Tuesday when Beth will introduce a new topic or skill that will be related to the project. Then meet up again on Thursdays for Social Sewing. For those who need a little more help with their machines, we'll also hold Office Hours to help troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
Skill level: ✂️✂️
You have a few projects under your belt. You aready know how to thread and use a sewing machine and you're ready to learn more advanced basics.
Pictured above is the Classic Shirt by Liesl & Co, which is a great choice. You could also work on the Archer Shirt by Grainline or Cashmerette's Harrison Shirt. For a men's pattern, check out the All Day Shirt from Liesl & Co. or the Fairfield from Thread Theory. There are lots of great shirt patterns out there. You choose which one is right for you and Beth will help you sew it up beautifully!
So that you can be sure to get your pattern in time, we recommend purchasing your pattern digitally. If you've never done a PDF pattern before, we have a great tutorial on our blog. When you register for the club, you will get 20% off any fabric purchased through our online shop through October 15th.
About the instructor:
Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier! One of her favorite things is to teach you the tips and shortcuts that will make your sewing faster and also more fun. Sign up for one of Beth's classes and let her teach you how satisfying it can be to sew great clothes that make you look great!
Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend.
