Looking to build your skills and make new sewing friends? Join the Hello Stitch Garment Sewing Club! It's always more fun to sew together. This online class is part formal class instruction from our expert garment instructor, Beth Galvin, and part sewing social time sprinkled with helpful hints, tips, and (virtual) helping hands.
Get more mileage out of your existing sewing patterns. You can hack it! A sewing pattern that you like is just the starting point to make it your own.
In February, we will learn how to:
- Move darts
- Change a neckline
- Modify or add openings & closures
- Design different sleeves
- Add ruffles
- Color block details.
This month, the format of the Garment Sewing club will be a little bit different. Instead of everyone sewing a similar project together, techniques will be demonstrated and explained on Tuesdays. Then, on Thursdays, you can work on your own pattern modifications with help from Beth.
Skill level: ✂️✂️
You have a few projects under your belt. You aready know how to thread and use a sewing machine and you're ready to learn more advanced basics.
Supplies:
To get the most out of this month's session, we recommend you choose a pattern that includes a bodice with darts and set-in sleeves (this can be a shirt or dress). When you register for the club, you will also get a 15% off coupon good towards class supplies at Stonemountain & Daughter.
About the instructor:
Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier! One of her favorite things is to teach you the tips and shortcuts that will make your sewing faster and also more fun. Sign up for one of Beth's classes and let her teach you how satisfying it can be to sew great clothes that make you look great!
Cancellation Policy:
Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend.
