Working in a series is a great way to explore your artistic voice, but can be a daunting endeavor. Let’s bring down the size and get rid of the pressure to make it more obtainable. Working small allows the opportunity to try new ideas, without a long term commitment. You choose the size, and the focus that you are comfortable with, and let your journey begin!
Once you have the parameters set for your series, we will create a Fiber Art Journal to store your work in, adding to it as you create. We will meet once a month to explore some creative prompts and exercises, delve into relative topics, discuss and show your progress, and most of all - build an online community. Some explorations may be seen to the finish, some may be left as an idea or a sketch to refer back to. Your rules - you decide! The beauty of this course will be to approach these explorations as you would a sketch in a sketchbook. This is meant to be used however you wish - your own private reference, a book to share with family and friends, or a compilation for a future exhibition!
Each meetup will be recorded and available for students to view for the duration of the series. If you have to miss a meetup, or want to refer back to something in an earlier month, you can watch it later at your own convenience!
*Class may run longer every so often at the teacher's discretion.
About the Instructor:
Pati Fried studied graphic design in college, but always found herself lingering in the textile department. After graduating and working in corporate marketing for several years, she finally discovered quilting and was hooked. Mixing pattern, color and texture is a perfect fit for her, both as a quilter and a designer. She is a fabric and pattern designer, a popular quilt blogger, and her work has been featured in quilting magazines.
Cancellation Policy:
Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend.
