ONLINE: Crazy Silk Circle Quilt with Julia McLeod of Silk & Salvage

**This is a 2 session workshop**

Sundays, October 11 & 18 from 10am - 1pm

Create a pillow cover or a center medallion for your next quilt. Two fun techniques and a great materials kit will give you everything you need to construct this luxurious, crazy-pieced design, framed in a circle of linen.  

In our first session, instructor Julia McLeod will show you a clever technique that yields an organic, irregular, crazy-pieced look. In the second session you’ll set your crazy quilt in a perfect circle, adding simple machine quilting and hand stitching as a finishing touch.

In this workshop, you will learn:

• Crazy piecing by machine
• How to work with silk fabric
• Making a circular patch setting
• Machine quilting
• Hand quilting

This workshop will be recorded and will be made available to class participants for 2 weeks following the lesson.

You've got it down! You've been sewing for awhile and you have a pretty good handle on the basics. You're looking to delve into more advanced techniques and work on advancing your skill set.

Supplies: As part of the class, you will receive a kit with everything needed for your class project. 

Included in the kit:

• 10 pieces of Mulberry Silk necktie samples - this fun sampling of silks will be curated by Julia for your kit, but expect to receive something in the range of colors of men's suit ties.
• Fat 1/4 Essex linen/cotton in Olive
• Fat 1/4 80/20 batting
• Fat 1/4 muslin
• 1 skein embroidery floss
• 1 embroidery needle
• 18" x18" piece of freezer paper

Your project will be shipped to you anywhere in the US.* In order to get your kit in time, please register early! You can also pick up your kit from Hello Stitch during our curbside pickup hours (Tues & Thurs, 11am - 3pm). Please select your shipping option during checkout. Kits are usually shipped (or available for curbside pickup) one to two weeks before class. We'll send you a notice as soon as they are shipped or ready for pickup!

About the instructor: 

Julia McLeod has been sewing and quilting for decades but three years ago narrowed her focus to making quilts from silks and rescued materials.  Neckties, clothing and furnishing samples have all found their way into her work. In her collaboration with Sue Fox - 'Silk and Salvage' - Julia lectures and teaches about ways quilters can incorporate silk into their quilts.

Cancellation Policy:

Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend. Supply kit fee of $25 and the shipping fee are non-refundable.
