Whether you are creating a quilt from a loved one’s clothing or using other clothing, these fabrics can be used and combined to form beautiful, meaningful results.

What have you been saving? Outgrown baby clothes, favorite worn-out jeans, a collection of T-shirts, neckties left over from a long career, a prom- or wedding dress? All these items can be upcycled; given a second life as a beautiful quilt.

Special fabrics hold memories and significance. Enjoy them in a new way, in the form of a quilt you can cuddle up under or use to decorate your home.

In this class you will learn:

  • Ways to prepare fabrics for piecing
  • Composition concepts that suit your materials
  • Techniques that meet the challenges of fraying and stretching
  • Methods for combining varying weights and types of fabric

In each class, Julia will share her work, show examples of historical and contemporary quilts, and teach techniques. Participants are invited ask questions to generate discussion and to share their quilt projects, whatever stage they’re at.
