About the Event

In this class you’ll learn the sewing technique of chenille - a surface treatment that creates a luxurious, frayed and fluffy pile. By layering various fabrics, different textures can be created - when combined with color and design choices, the possibilities are endless! We will make a throw pillow, working from Kristina’s naturally dyed fabric selection. Ample time will be given in class to thoughtful design. The final result will be revealed after class when you wash your pillow at home!

In this class, you will cover:

  • Working within a limited color palette
  • Design choices
  • Measuring, marking, straight sewing and cutting
  • Basic envelope style pillow construction

Supplies: All materials will be supplied to make your pillow including a natural goose down insert. If you choose to use your own fabrics, please bring loosely woven solids or prints for experimentation. You will be working in a neutral color palette with accents of indigo, black and madder root dyed fabrics.

Skill level: Beginner(102) - Advanced
