Learn to Sew 102: Shirt No. 1

This is a 2 session class:

February 12, 6-8PM

February 13, 6-9PM

Get started on making your own clothes and learn to sew the simple & versatile Shirt No. 1 from 100 Acts of Sewing. This class will teach you how to cut out a pattern, assemble using durable & beautiful French seams, and finish with bias binding. You will leave with a custom top and the skills to make a dozen more!

Included with this class is an optional guided fabric shopping trip on Saturday, February 8th at Stonemountain & Daughter. Students can meet Catherine at the store at 11am to learn how to select the right fabric for both your skill level and your project.

Skill level: ✂️✂️

You already know how to thread and use a sewing machine and you have a couple of small projects under your belt. You're ready to learn more advanced basics, like how to cut and sew clothing and learn about seam finishes. 

Prerequisite: Any of our Learn to Sew 101 classes or equivalent previous sewing experience.

Supply List: You will need to purchase the Shirt No. 1 pattern and fabric before class. More details in the supply list you'll receive upon registration.

About the instructor: 

Catherine Nolan has always enjoyed creative pursuits and dabbled in several over the years—painting, embroidery, and knitting are among a few—but she found her passion in sewing. Though she started relatively recently, sewing quickly took over her life and now she’s constantly dreaming up pattern & fabric combinations. Catherine firmly believes that learning to sew changed her life for the better and she would love nothing more than to pass that on to others through teaching. Cancellation Policy:

Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend.
