About the Event
Two Session Class
Tuesdays, August 31 & September 7, 6pm - 8:30pm
Learn how to make a striped quilt made even easier by using a pre-cut jelly roll* with instructor Chelsea Hard. Find out how much fun it can be to make your very own quilt! This class is perfect if you have never sewn a quilt before. Chelsea will walk you through quilt-making basics including:
- Using a sewing machine
- How to properly use a rotary cutter and ruler
- Design layout
- Accurate piecing skills
You will leave class with a quilt top (or nearly finished one!) and the confidence to take on more complicated patterns and techniques.
To continue your quilt journey, we recommend you follow up this class with Learn To Quilt 102. In the second series, you will learn how to complete your quilt with instruction in quilting and binding the finished top.
Skill level: ✂️
You've seen a sewing machine before, but you've never played with one, or if you have given it a try, you'd really love a little extra help to make sure you're doing it correctly.
*Supplies: All you need for this workshop is a jelly roll! A jelly roll is a pack of pre-cut 2.5 inch strips usually of 40 different fabrics.
About the Instructor:
Chelsea Hard made her first quilt perched on the edge of the couch with her sewing machine on the coffee table. Now practicing better ergonomics, she is an avid quilt maker and enjoys all aspects of sewing by both hand and machine. When not purchasing craft supplies she’ll only use once or actively avoiding organizing her studio, she is the President of the South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild and an award winning jam maker. Chelsea currently resides in the East Bay with her two sewing machines.
