About the Event

Two Session Class

Tuesday & Thursday, July 13 & 15, 6pm - 8:30pm

Learn how to make an 8-point star quilt, otherwise known as the Missouri Star with instructor Chelsea Hard. This class is perfect if you have never sewn a quilt before.  Chelsea will walk you through quilt-making basics including:

  • Using a sewing machine
  • How to properly use a rotary cutter and ruler
  • Design layout
  • Accurate piecing skills

You will leave class with a quilt top (or nearly finished one!) and the confidence to take on more complicated patterns and techniques.

To continue your quilt journey, we recommend you follow up this class with Learn To Quilt 102. In the second series, you will learn how to complete your quilt with instruction in quilting and binding the finished top.

Skill level: ✂️

You've seen a sewing machine before, but you've never played with one, or if you have given it a try, you'd really love a little extra help to make sure you're doing it correctly.

Supplies: A supply list will be emailed upon registration.

About the Instructor:

Chelsea Hard made her first quilt perched on the edge of the couch with her sewing machine on the coffee table. Now practicing better ergonomics, she is an avid quilt maker and enjoys all aspects of sewing by both hand and machine.  When not purchasing craft supplies she’ll only use once or actively avoiding organizing her studio, she is the President of the South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild and an award winning jam maker. Chelsea currently resides in the East Bay with her two sewing machines.

Cancellation Policy:

Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class.
