About the Event

Join us at the studio to take a step-by-step quilting workshop with artist Julia McLeod on how to make this classic, pineapple quilt block using the technique of foundation piecing. A printed muslin foundation serves as your guide to accuracy as you sew along the lines. The foundation stays in place - no need to tear anything out like with paper piecing.

In this 4-hour, in person class, Julia will also share design ideas and demonstrate the many ways that color choices can create dramatically different effects.

You'll be provided with:

  • One panel of Benartex's Foundation by the Yard which gives you twelve, 10" finished Pineapple blocks
  • A supply list of suggested fabrics, colors and cutting instructions*
  • A pdf document of step by step directions to complete the block

*You may bring your own fabrics, or dig through our silk scrap box on the day of class

Skill level: ✂️✂️

You have a few projects under your belt. You aready know how to thread and use a sewing machine and you're ready to learn more advanced basics. This class is for the patient, confident quilter. The block is not technically difficult but does take a little time and attention to detail.

About the instructor:

Julia McLeod has been sewing and quilting for decades but three years ago narrowed her focus to making quilts from silks and rescued materials.  Neckties, clothing and furnishing samples have all found their way into her work. Julia lectures and teaches about ways quilters can incorporate silk into their quilts.

Cancellation Policy:

Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend.
