Looking to build your skills and make new sewing friends? It's always more fun to sew together! This weekend class is part formal class instruction from our expert garment instructor, Beth Galvin, and part sewing social time sprinkled with helpful hints, tips, and helping hands.

We love the chic look and classic style of the Kalle Shirt & Shirtdress from Closet Core Patterns, but, if you'd prefer to work on a different tunic style shirt or shirtdress pattern, we can accomodate that! The Kalle pattern is the perfect look for spring, summer and fall in California! When choosing patterns to base our classes on, we particularly appreciate patterns that have more than one style option, as the best part of working with a pattern is perfecting it and then using it more than once. With the Kalle, you can take the basic pattern and use it to make a variety of different pieces that vary in style and length, making each item unique!

This class will cover:

- Selecting pattern size and some pattern adjustments

- Collars

- Making beautiful plackets

- Buttonholes!

- Tips and tricks for better construction and faster sewing

- Using Interfacing, choosing and how to apply

Keep in mind there's a lot of sewing involved in making a tunic style shirt or shirtdress. You will leave class with the skills you need to finish your project but you may not have finished everything. Most importantly, you will have an opportunity to sew many of the components of this tunic style shirt or shirtdress in class where you can ask questions while you gain expertise.

At checkout, you will have the option to add Beth's series of technique videos so you can always refresh your memory when you want to make another tunic or shirtdress! It's also a great option if you like to prep before class - we'll send you the link to the videos at least a week prior to your weekend of sewing.

Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier! One of her favorite things is to teach you the tips and shortcuts that will make your sewing faster and also more fun. Sign up for one of Beth's classes and let her teach you how satisfying it can be to sew great clothes that make you look great!
