Bay Quilt’s Soft Cloth Doll Club is for anyone who is looking for an active doll making community.
Whether you have made a doll, a teddy bear, want to learn soft sculpting, or just want to build your 3-D fabric skills. Master cloth doll maker Sondra Von Burg lends her 30 years of doll making expertise to lead the group each month in a new skill. Every month a different skill will be taught. Heads and needle sculpting a nose, painting the face, five fingered hands, joints, armature, hair and costuming will be covered.
July's Club: Dressing the Doll, Tips and techniques for furthering the character
In this workshop Sondra will give out some basic patterns and demo techniques specific to soft sculpture. Then she will help students with their individual ideas and questions. Any kind of fabric can be used for your doll’s costuming, so this is where those special scraps can be used. Beads, old jewelry, and trinkets can also be utilized as accents and embellishments.
Note: This is an ongoing club, we focus on a particular aspect of making a doll each month. You are welcome to come regardless of whether you have attended previous sessions. Over time, we revisit all the techniques needed to make a doll.
Skill level: ✂️✂️
