IN PERSON: Sew the Cielo Top with Beth Galvin

We can't wait to see you at our first In Person class since closing the studio! And, we're keeping the class small so you'll get loads of attention. We've added an online prep session to so you can maximize your in person class. We will be meeting at Ace Makerspace in their completely outfitted sewing studio. 

The Cielo Top has a comfortable fit and some interesting features that make it a great addition to any wardrobe. We'll only be making View A in this class and you'll leave with the skills to fill your closet with all the Cielo options.

This class has two sessions:

• ONLINE - Thursday, May 5th, 6:30 - 7:30pm. Beth will review everything you need to know and do before coming to class on Saturday. She will talk about the pattern, how to chose the correct size, fabric selection and walk you through cutting out a pattern. This will be recorded, please watch it before the in person class if you can't attend the live session.
• IN PERSON - Saturday, May 14th, 10am - 3pm. 

In this class, you learn how to:

• Cut out a pattern
• Make simple pattern adjustments
• Lay out the fabric
• Properly pin the pattern pieces
• Cut out and mark your fabric
• Sew with a proper seam allowance
• Set a sleeve
• Tips and tricks for better and faster sewing

You've seen a sewing machine before, but you've never played with one, or if you have given it a try, you'd really love a little extra help to make sure you're doing it correctly.

Supply List: We will send you a complete supply list, including fabric recommendations once you've registered for class.

About the instructor: 

Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier! One of her favorite things is to teach you the tips and shortcuts that will make your sewing faster and also more fun. This class is being held at the Ace Makerspace located at 6050 Lowell St, #206, Oakland CA 94608. Located where Oakland, Berkeley and Emeryville come together and just a short hop from Ashby BART. Ace Makerspace is a nonprofit whose mission is bringing people together to create, learn and solve life’s challenges with an amazing array of tools, technology, and project-based education. All in inclusive spaces, serving everybody in Oakland and beyond. You are required to open a free guest account prior to class.

Cancellation Policy:

Class fees are transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds. You can, however transfer the class to a friend.

This class is for adults age 18 and up.
