Quilt Blocks to Quilty Books

Let’s Play! Gather up your leftover blocks to create a fabric quilt book! Using a few stray blocks, buttons, ribbons or even yo yo’s, you spend the day creating fun and improvisational pages to fill your quilty book. Your book might tell a story, be a gift for a toddler, or simply showcase your love of quilting. You decide!

Pati will share a few bookmaking techniques that transfer well to fabric books, including interactive pages that fold out, hold something in a pocket or pop up to greet you! She will also have tips on how to jazz up or resize a block, along with how to curate a cohesive story with what you have.

Most of all, it is a day to jumpstart your creativity while adding personality and purpose to your pile of lonely quilt blocks.

Skill level: ✂️✂️

You have used a sewing machine and maybe have a few projects under your belt.

Supplies: You will receive the fabric requirements once you sign up. Bay Quilts is glad to help you select fabrics for your book.

Sewing Machines and Equipment: You will need to bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies to class. The specific tools you need will be included in the supply list.

About the instructor:

Pati Fried studied graphic design in college, but always found herself lingering in the textile department. After graduating and working in corporate marketing for several years, she finally discovered quilting and was hooked. Mixing pattern, color and texture is a perfect fit for her, both as a quilter and a designer. She is a fabric and pattern designer, a popular quilt blogger for See How We Sew, and her work has been featured in quilting magazines.

Location:

This class is being held at the Bay Quilts located at 5327 Jacuzzi St. 3-C, Richmond, CA 94804.
