These zipper pouches are super cute and so useful! They are big enough to be a small clutch purse or use them as pencil cases, jewelry or makeup bags, or purse organizers. The quilting gives the pouch just enough structure and padding to protect the contents without being bulky. Oh, and did we mention the extra-special touch that you add to make each bag unique?

This quilted zipper pouch is about 5" x 8" and makes a great first project. In this workshop, you will learn how to:

• install a zipper
• create a lining
• do basic quilting
• construct a bag

Be prepared, once they see your quilted pouch, all your friends are going to want one and they do make great gifts. Sneak in a gift card and you are all set. To send you on your pouch making journey, Margaret will talk about using other fabrics and pieced panels and show some examples.

You already know how to thread and use a sewing machine and you're ready to do your first bag making project.

Supplies: We provide the fabric, zipper and batting. You'll receive a supply list with the specifics when you sign up.

Sewing Machines and Equipment: You will need to bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies to class. 

About the instructor: 

Margaret Glendening started sewing at age 9 and has loved creating ever since. Twenty-five year ago, she needed to figure out what to do with her scraps so she started quilting. Her quilts have been shown in a number of quilt shows including a solo exhibition. You can find her work at art fairs throughout the Bay Area.

This class is being held at the Bay Quilts located at 5327 Jacuzzi St. 3-C, Richmond, CA 94804. Bay Quilts is run by Sally Davey and her daughter, Abbey-Shane  a team of lifelong artists and crafters who have been in the quilting industry for over 30 years. The classroom space is on the 2nd level so you will need to be able to climb a flight of stairs. There is a convenient caddy so you don't have to carry your equipment up the stairs.
