Saturday, April 29th, 10AM - 3PM
A placemat is really a tiny quilt.
Wow your guests! Protect your fancy table! Up your table setting by making placemats.
We'll supply everything you need and teach you to make a placemat. Once you've finished your placemat, you'll have all the skills you need to tackle finishing a quilt - basting, quilting and binding.
Our priority is that everyone has fun, makes a placemat and builds their quilting skills. If you finish your placemat, we'll help you to begin basting and quilting your quilt top (a supply list will be provided when you sign up) or you can use the studio to continue working on your quilt top.
Skill level: ✂️✂️
You have a few projects under your belt. You aready know how to thread and use a sewing machine and you're ready to play with the basics. This is a beginner friendly class.
The requirements will be emailed upon registration.
About the Instructor:
Chelsea Hard made her first quilt perched on the edge of the couch with her sewing machine on the coffee table. Now practicing better ergonomics and covered in thread, she enjoys all aspects of quilting both by hand and machine. When not quilting or teaching, she can be found purchasing crafts supplies she’ll only use once, adding too much Liberty fabric to her online shopping cart & actively avoiding organizing her studio. She is the former president of the South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild and an award winning jam maker. Chelsea currently resides in the East Bay with her two sewing machines & two handsome Doodles.
Sewing Machines: If you would like to use one of the sewing machines at Ace Makerspace (we highly recommend this for beginng sewists) please select the Use Ace Machine ticket. If you are comfortable and would like to use your own sewing machine please select the Use My Machine ticket. DO NOT purchase a Use My Machine ticket if you don't have a machine, it isn't working properly or you aren't comfortable operating it. We don't have extra machines you can use. If we have sold out of Use My Machine tickets, and you want to use your own machine, you may purchase a Use Ace Machine ticket.
