Do you love your shirt so much that you wish you had a closet full of them? What about that top you bought a few years ago that has seen better days but you keep wearing it because it fits you perfectly? Copy it! Come learn from expert garment instructor, Beth Galvin as she show you how to copy a shirt or top into a flat pattern that you can use to create an entire wardrobe of favorites.
This is a skill building class. You will leave with knowing the steps to copy a garment and will have gotten to practice them on the garment you bring to class. Depending on the size and complexity of your garment, you may not have a perfect, complete, pattern finished by the end of class but you'll know what you need to do to finish it at home.
Please note: The best garment for this method is something with small sections that can be copied (not large swooping pieces). The garment you copy should be made of a woven fabric, not a knit or stretchy fabric.
Skill level: ✂️✂️
You have a few garment projects under your belt. You've sewn patterns and are interested in making your own from an existing garment.
Supplies: We will send you a list of supplies once you sign up. We will not be sewing in this class, only drafting the pattern. Please bring a simple blouse, shirt, or top made of woven, not knit or stretch, fabric for your first project. Start simple - end successful!
