About the Event

IN PERSON: Class, Saturday and Sunday, January 27 & 28, 10AM - 3PM PST

Held at Bay Quilts

A weekend of sewing!!

We'll have access to comfortable sewing space at Bay Quilts on both Saturday and Sunday so you can set up your sewing machine on Saturday morning and leave it until you finish on Sunday afternoon.

A chore jacket is practical, comfortable and stylish. It'll become your go to jacket to layer with any outfit - dressing up a pair of jeans or adding a functional flair over a dress. And, did we mention pockets, because chore jackets usually have a bunch of them. Their loose, slightly boxy, fit makes it a great three season jacket, either worn on its own or layered over a sweater.

Rather than focus on only one pattern, Beth will share the tips and tricks needed to make just about any chore jacket pattern. There are lots of great patterns out there for both women and men, you choose your favorite. Because this class focuses on techniques rather than being a sew-along following a specific pattern, you will learn the skills regardless of what pattern you select!

Keep in mind there's a lot of sewing involved in making a jacket. You will leave class with the skills you need to make a jacket but you may not have finished everything. Most importantly, you will have an opportunity to sew many of the components of the jacket in class where you can ask questions while you gain expertise.

At checkout, you will have the option to add Beth's series of 28 Chore Jacket technique videos so you can always refresh your memory when you want to make another jacket! It's also a great option if you like to prep before class - we'll send you the link to the videos at least a week prior to your weekend of sewing.

Here are a few of our favorite chore jacket options:

Skill level: ✂️✂️

You have a few garment projects under your belt and are ready to tackle something a little more challenging.

Supplies: You choose and purchase the chore jacket pattern you like best. Bring the fabrics and notions required for the pattern you select.

Sewing Machines and Equipment: You will need to bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies to class.

About the instructor:

Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier! One of her favorite things is to teach you the tips and shortcuts that will make your sewing faster and also more fun. Sign up for one of Beth's classes and let her teach you how satisfying it can be to sew great clothes that make you look great!
