Studio Policies

  • All users of the Hello Stitch Studio are responsible for their own safety.  Hello Stitch will not be held liable or responsible for any injury sustained by using any of the facilities or equipment in the studio.

  • If at any time you notice any equipment and/or tools which are not functioning properly, stop using the equipment and contact a member of the Hello Stitch staff. 

  • Using the studio when workshops are in session: Equipment, machines, classroom space, and other areas may be reserved for classes.  Check the online calendar to determine availability ahead of time if you need a specific machine or work area.

  • Tables and machines may be marked as reserved for classes and will be made available for the exclusive use of instructors and attendees beginning 30 minutes prior to the start of the workshop.

  • Please be considerate and refrain from being excessively noisy while classes are in session.

Class Policies

  • Hello Stitch will provide each student with any equipment and/or tools needed for each class unless otherwise noted in the class description. 

  • Class fees are transferable to another class or to studio credit if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class.  If cancellations are made after the 72 hour advance window has passed, we will not be able to issue refunds or studio credits. You can, however transfer the class to a friend

  • Please plan on arriving at least 15 minutes before the start of class to ensure that all students are given adequate attention and can make the most of every class.  Parking in Berkeley can be a challenge, so please leave extra time to find a space if you plan on driving. If a student arrives 15 minutes or more after the start of class, it is at the discretion of the teacher as to whether the student will be admitted. No refunds or studio credit will be given for late arrivals.

  • Unfortunately, we are NOT able to give refunds for cancelled classes with out of town instructors or special guests unless there is a waitlist for the event. You are welcome to arrange for a friend to take your place.

  • NO REFUNDS OR STUDIO CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN FOR NO-SHOWS.

  • In the event that a class does not have enough students, it may be canceled. Enrolled students will be notified at least 48 hours prior to the start of the class. In the event of a cancellation, students will be refunded. If we reschedule a class to another date, students may transfer to the new date or receive a full refund.

Camp & Afterschool Cancellation Policy ​

  • Cancellation 14 days or more before the event = 90% refund of the total balance.

  • Cancellation 8-13 days before the event = 50% refund of the total balance.

  • Cancellation less than 8 days before the event = 0% refund of the total balance.

  • NO REFUNDS ARE ISSUED DUE TO CAMPER ABSENCES, INCLUDING ABSENCES DUE TO ILLNESS. 

  • To cancel, transfer from one session to another, or make other changes to your camp registration, please email the Hello Stitch Studio.

  • We understand that sometimes life is unpredictable! If your child cannot attend camp, but has a friend that would like to take their place, contact us to see if they are applicable for a transfer.

Membership Policies and Codes of Conduct

  • In the interest of providing service to all of our members, we reserve the right to limit attendance to three days per week. We may occasionally need to close the studio for special events, but it won’t happen often and you will be given plenty of advance notice.

 

  • When a class is in session, we expect our members to be respectful of the teacher and class space. This is an open studio, so please be aware of how your voice carries. Also, please address studio assistants with your questions and do not approach the teacher or the students during class time. Equipment and tables may be reserved for exclusive class use.

 

  • A studio assistant will always be on hand to provide tool and machine trouble-shooting and support. We are also happy to help with tips, tricks, encouragement and snacks! Studio members should not expect one-on-one attention, as found in our classes. If we feel that you need more help than we can provide, we will help find you a class that will put you on the right path - and as a member, you get a 15% discount!

 

  • We are closed to the general public on Tuesdays, but as a member, you are welcome to come in and use the studio by appointment. Because we may be teaching a class or trying to complete a project, we ask that you work independently when using the space on Tuesdays.

 

  • Shoes are required at all times as you move about the studio. We understand you may like to sit at the machine with your shoes off, however, we ask that you wear shoes for your safety as you leave your immediate workstation.

 

  • Please be considerate with your cell phone usage. Calls are allowed within reason but we ask that ringers be turned down or set to vibrate, and that conversations be kept to a bare minimum.

 

  • Any non-member guest in the studio must pay daily drop in fee. This includes guests using the lounge area.  

 

  • Children above the age of 8 may accompany members while actively involved in a project and the daily drop in fee will still apply. Children may not be left unattended unless they are in a class.
