Start your year off right! After the stress of the holiday season you deserve time for yourself. Uncover a creative process that is relaxing and meditative and can be carried with you to work on with you have a moment. If you can cut, paste, thread a needle and push it through cloth you have the skills you need to do slow stitch collage.

Explore layering your favorite scraps with textures, color and pattern into small, fabric collages, for an opportunity to showcase unusual hand stitching known as slowstitch. Slowstitch lends itself to a world of opportunity in adding personality and character to your work. 

This class will guide you through building a foundation to begin your collage, share simple applique ideas, and explore some of the wonderful stitch techniques that can make your collage come to life. Tips on composition, contrast, thread, needles and much more will to give you the tools needed to compose many more collages.

About the instructor: 

Pati Fried studied graphic design in college, but always found herself lingering in the textile department. After graduating and working in corporate marketing for several years, she finally discovered quilting and was hooked. Mixing pattern, color and texture is a perfect fit for her, both as a quilter and a designer. She is a fabric and pattern designer, a popular quilt blogger for See How We Sew, and her work has been featured in quilting magazines.
