Class 1: Adjust the Bust

April 6, 2pm-5pm

One of the most common pattern adjustments needed is in the bust area. In this class, you will learn how to:

  • adjust the bust on a variety of styles
  • do a full bust adjustment
  • do a small bust adjustment
  • adjust princess seams
  • raise and lower bust darts
  • add darts to achieve a better fit

Class 2: Pattern Fitting + Cutting + Sewing

April 13, 2pm-6pm

You will work on individual fitting adjustments using your tissue pattern as well as learn how to:

  • measure yourself and choose the correct pattern size
  • alter your paper pattern before cutting into the fabric
  • review how to lay out the fabric, pin the pattern pieces, cut out and mark your fabric
  • begin sewing your dress

Class 3: Zippers + Finishing Techniques

April 20, 2pm-6pm

Continue construction on your dress and learn how to:

  • put on a sleeve
  • insert zippers
  • when and how to use under-stitching, top-stitching, and hand-stitching

Skill level: Intermediate - You've made a couple of garments and you have a pretty good handle on the basics. You're looking to delve into more advanced techniques.

Supply list: Patterns, fabric and notions not included in class price. A supply list will be emailed upon registration.

You may not finish your project during class time, but don’t fret! Included with this class, you also get 2 free day passes to Hello Stitch that can be used any time we are open, Wednesday - Sunday, 10am - 8pm and are valid for one month after the date of your last class.

About the instructor:

Beth Galvin started sewing at age 7 and can sew everything from casual knit tops to tailored jackets to over the top party dresses. She has a popular sewing blog, Sunnygal Studio where she shares her tips and tricks and she also blogs for Craftsy. Beth loves to help people get the pattern they love to fit the way they want. She is brilliant at adding stylish little details that make your projects look professional and special, but what's even better is that she has figured out how to make it easier! One of her favorite things is to teach you the tips and shortcuts that will make your sewing faster and also more fun.
